History

First Baptist Church of Marina came together in 1950 with just 12 members–two couples and two families. Their purpose? To fulfill the Great commission of Jesus in Matthew 28: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.”

Within a year, that group had grown to make its home on the property where it meets today. And within a few years, it had begun to reach out and plant new churches in Seaside and Castroville. That heart to plant churches carries on with the congregation today helping to support other new churches.

As Marina boomed with families in the post war years, First Baptist Church of Marina came to be a place where families from different cultures and ethnic backgrounds grew together under a common love of Christ.
